Data Usage and Tracking Policy
Last Updated: February 2025
We believe transparency matters when it comes to how we track and use data on our platform. This document explains what tracking technologies we use and how they work.
What Are Tracking Technologies?
When you visit dataextraevolve.com, small pieces of data get stored on your device. These help us remember your preferences, understand how people use our platform, and improve the experience for investment professionals who rely on our financial analysis tools.
Think of them as digital sticky notes. Some remember whether you've logged in. Others track which features you use most often. A few help us figure out if our new dashboard layout actually makes sense to real users.
How We Use These Technologies
Our tracking serves specific purposes across the platform:
- Keeping you logged into your account between visits
- Remembering your dashboard preferences and custom views
- Understanding which financial analysis tools get used and which ones don't
- Spotting technical problems before they affect too many users
- Making sure our security measures actually work in practice
We don't sell this information. The data stays internal and helps us build better tools for investment professionals.
Essential Operations
These keep the platform functioning. Without them, you can't log in, save your work, or access secure features. They're non-negotiable for basic site operation.
Examples: session identifiers, security tokens, load balancing markers
Functional Preferences
These remember your choices. If you prefer dark mode or want certain data columns visible by default, these tracking elements store those settings. They make your experience more personalized without collecting sensitive information.
Examples: display preferences, notification settings, language choices
Performance Analysis
We track how the platform performs and where people encounter issues. This includes page load times, feature usage patterns, and common navigation paths. The goal is spotting problems and understanding what works.
Examples: page analytics, feature engagement metrics, error logging
Communication Tracking
When we send platform updates or educational content, we measure engagement to know what's useful. This helps us avoid sending irrelevant information and focus on content that investment professionals actually need.
Examples: email engagement metrics, notification response tracking
Current Tracking Status:
What Happens When You Decline
Declining non-essential tracking means we stop collecting performance data and engagement metrics. Essential operations continue because they're required for the platform to work.
You'll still access all features and tools. But we won't know which ones you find most useful, and we might send less relevant updates since we can't track what content resonates with users.
Your choice gets saved in your browser. If you clear browsing data or switch devices, you'll need to decline again.
Essential Data We Always Collect
Some tracking can't be disabled because it's fundamental to platform security and operation:
Data Type | Purpose | Duration |
---|---|---|
Session Authentication | Keeps you logged in securely | Until logout or 24 hours |
Security Tokens | Prevents unauthorized access attempts | Per session |
Load Distribution | Routes requests to available servers | Duration of visit |
Error Logging | Identifies critical system failures | 30 days |
Managing Your Browser Settings
Most browsers let you control tracking at a deeper level. You can block everything, allow only specific sites, or clear data regularly. Each browser handles this differently.
Chrome users head to Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies. Firefox has similar controls under Options > Privacy & Security. Safari users check Preferences > Privacy.
Blocking all tracking might break certain features. Financial dashboards with real-time data updates particularly rely on persistent connections that require some data storage.
Third-Party Services
We integrate with external platforms for specific functionality. These services have their own tracking policies:
- Payment processors that handle subscription billing
- Analytics platforms that help us understand user behavior
- Infrastructure providers that keep the platform running
- Email services that deliver platform updates and notifications
When you interact with these services through our platform, their policies apply alongside ours. We choose partners carefully, but you should review their privacy practices independently.
Data Retention Periods
Different types of tracking data get kept for different lengths of time. Session data disappears when you close your browser. Performance metrics stay for 90 days. Account preferences persist until you change them or delete your account.
We don't keep tracking data indefinitely. Once it's served its purpose for analysis or troubleshooting, it gets deleted from our systems. Essential security logs last longer for compliance reasons, usually around 12 months.
Changes to This Policy
Technology evolves, and so do our tracking practices. When we add new tracking methods or change how we use data, we'll update this page and note the revision date at the top.
Significant changes might prompt an email notification to active users. But checking back occasionally makes sense if you're concerned about how your data gets used.
